Standard equipment
It's like a shrunken big adventure bike this thing, and it has all the stuff - fully adjustable KYB suspension, 5" TFT display, adjustable windscreen, tubeless wheels, foldable mirriors, a wildly powerful LED headlight. Ours come on road biased tires, 80/20 at the most, a top box is your included luggage system. Standard phone holder, a standard toolkit, navigation mount bar, a set of zip ties, masking tape (abt. 3m), tire plug kit and a set of spare brake and clutch levers.
Why do we like the CFMoto 450MT
It's capable
It does everything an adventure bike should do and it does it very well indeed. It actually does the off-roady bits better than most big bikes because it is relatively low, relatively light, has really good suspension and the power is easy to manage. Power - it's enough for anything real world rides require but, especially with the torque being low down. Having a very low 1st gear also makes it eat up difficult terrain never feeling underpowered. Cruising at speed, it's stable, it keeps up with bigger bikes with no complaints. Highway speeds are fine as well - you'll spatter plenty of flies on it, no worries. Fuel consumption is rather good and can be made quite low if you decide to slow down a bit.
It's a surprise
By that we mean it's full of really nice surprises. The engine has a bit of a dual character to it - it's got torque immediately but it also has builds power up top. The pistons being small and light makes it rev quick and it has almost no vibrations to speak of. The exhaust note is big, meaty and pretty. The seat is flat but super cushy. The headlight is brighter than that of an airplane, which is nice. It's also riddled with nice little touches like the mirrors which are big and fold away for off-road. The gear and rear brake levers also fold btw. The more you look around, the better it gets.
It's easy
The power is smooth and easily modulated. The clutch action is magically light yet has all the feedback you need. The seat is low to the ground yet the bike has plenty of ground clearance. The chassis is well laid out to help you adjust to the terrain. The suspension soaks up issues without complaint. Brakes are good and you can switch the ABS off on the fly. It's all very easy, nothing takes effort. That's how a small adventure bike should be.
It's likable
As soon as you park it, someone is walking toward you, talking, checking the bike out and you have to tell them "hold on mate, I've got earplugs, I don't hear you". Then they ask you questions about is it good and if it has enough power and if it can keep up with a big bike, and how big the tank is, and how big your penis is and you gleefully answer all their questions, making a special petrol-station friend every time you stop to refuel. It's not a bother because it's just such a lovely bike, you really want to tell people how much you like it. And it never comes out snobby and braggy which is a game big bikes can't play.
Is it for me?
It's light, easy, powerful enough, fast enough, full of big boy extras and it's all wrapped up in an affordable package. That said, if you have big power near the very top of your requirement's list this might fall short. It's not absolutely everything to everybody, it's not a child's letter to Santa, it's a real machine.
Maybe you love the concept of the small, capable adventure bike but this one just isn't your style? How about a Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 then? It's the same but very, very different.
They call the CFMoto 450MT a baby Tenere, but if you feel like a grown up Tenere 700 is more your thing, we have them as well.
A Honda Transalp 750 is a fantastic alternative, especially if you have big mileage with a pillion and luggage in mind.
If you're feeling flush and would like to really go all out on your adventure, you can get the R1250GS
